Come, Be Still :: Still Waters Newsletter July and August 2008

Transition, Transition, Transition

July is the month of cherries, fireflies, zucchini and hydrangeas... fruitful, delicious, fragrant. It feels like the transition that we’ve been planning for and nurturing this past spring is also entering a stage of fullness.

The biggest transition at Still Waters this summer has been leadership change. Robert and Sarah are on board working with Delcy, and our first work intern, Joelle Chase, has been lending invaluable support since early June.

This summer's full schedule and many new things make us aware of our dependence on God's continued guidance and your support and prayers - we are grateful to you, the Still Waters community.

Fundraising Pie Chart

Giving and Receiving
Eucharisteo is the word in Greek for "thank". It is interesting that many Christian traditions refer to the breaking of bread and drinking of wine in remembrance of Christ as the "Eucharist". Giving thanks, receiving Christ’s body and blood, then living in the world as part of the body of Christ.

Why The Transition? What's Going On?
For those of you who are new to the idea that Still Waters is undergoing transition, please read our Jan/Feb 2008 newsletter. It will explain the context behind expanding the leadership at Still Waters and the reasons why we’ve moved into intentional fundraising for this ministry.

Joelle Introducing Joelle
Joelle Chase is spending her summer break at Still Waters as our first “official” work intern. She comes to us after her first year of teaching elementary school in eastern Montana, and is grateful for the simple, rhythmic tasks of gardening, prayer, relating to kindred people, and becoming reacquainted with self. We are so grateful for her help and prayerful presence!

Windwords Cabin Moves Windwords Cabin Moves
Tom and Delcy are planning a move (see photos of house plans in our March/April 2008 newsletter)! But before they can do that, the Windwords Cabin had to be moved. Unfortunately, it will be "out of order" for a few months as we find and prepare its new home on the property (see gallery for moving photos).

Activities toward the construction of their new abode are well under way at Still Waters, and we look forward to welcoming a crew of over 25 experienced Maranatha workers to help with the construction project in October.
