Savoring Still Waters
by Nancy Green

Picnic Table and Oak TreeRemembering my introduction to Still Waters a few short years ago brings a great calmness yet. Even when a great distance from its physical location, as I am at the time of this writing, the essence of Still Waters (a wonderful metaphor!) is within me.

The gift of Still Waters was shared with me by a dear friend, with the encouragement that experiencing time there could bring new insights. How very true! When Delcy greeted me the first time and we began conversing, we realized how our paths had criss-crossed over the years, and that we were now being brought together. During further visits she has always been available for talks or merely to welcome and let the quiet be the counselor!

The beauty of the acres of natural setting has been well tended by Tom and Delcy, and it provides for walks across fields, on trails, and even through a daffodil labyrinth. Viewing the pond from the swing or from inside the house quiets my mind. The farmhouse offers many different areas for sitting, napping, reading, and always a home-cooked lunch if so desired.

Being at Still Waters brings memories of time spent at my grandparents' farm as a child. I was always thrilled for the visit and the mystery of new discoveries. And so it is now, as an adult, when I spend time at this wonderful retreat. My inner child is reenergized, and my busy adult calmed.

Still Waters for me is a place and time for inner reflection, nurture, and connection with Spirit, with no interruptions. Absolute respite. It truly is balm for the soul.
